NEW webSurvent how-to tool released

Programming webSurvent Web surveys just got easier with the release of the webSurvent 8.1 Code Library reference tool.

This tool is available free-of-charge from our nonstop support team.

Survent users will be surprised at just how easy it is to adapt their existing Survent specs to Web survey specs.  Add our new HTML formatting calls to the top of your shell, and you've formatted most of your basic question types without a stitch of additional code.

CfMC clients using (or considering using) webSurvent for Web surveys should contact support for access to the “webSurvent 8.1 Code Library”, our latest self-help tool for programming Survent questionnaires.

Survent v8.1 - new features and updates

We continue to add new features and updates to Survent version 8.1 (released last year) for both CATI and Web surveying.  Users’ Conference attendees earlier this year received a comprehensive overview of the latest Survent developments as well as a peek into version 8.2.

Here’s a snapshot of the new and/or enhanced features shared with Users’ Conference attendees:

Data collection and analysis:

  • CfMC server throughput more than doubled on Linux servers. One CfMC server now supports up to 1800 webSurvent or 1500 webCATI stations.
  • Number of phone records allowed per study increased to 10 million from 400,000
  • "Windows” version of Mentor and Survent released, quadrupling  Mentor processing speeds
  • Keyboard-entry mode for webCATI (browser-based) studies
  • Enhanced sample logging includes interviewer status and dialer interactions
  • Enhanced quota management capabilities (across studies and sample files)

Supervisory features:

  • Live-study sample controls – add, prioritize, zap, and kill records in live studies
  • Terminal-based CATI users can now use webSuper, the browser-based shop supervisor, to control and report on interviewers

Enhanced Utility features:

  • Reformat utility now exports "SQL-readable" files
  • Suspend-Resume record management updates

webSurvent features:

  • Enhanced grid error messaging - customizable and condition-based
  • Custom JavaScripts allowed, new JavaScript functions added. New JS includes improved passing of URL data and better “sum’” table control among several changes.

NEW Web spec-writing downloads

WebSurvent and webCATI specs can be written in any text editor, but our users prefer UltraEdit and Textpad.

To assist use of these tools in creating browser-based surveys in CfMC, the nonstop support team has created two new free downloads - available to any user of CfMC software.

These syntax files provide syntax highlighting for:

  • standard Survent syntax
  • all webSurvent formatting commands
  • HTML tags
  • CSS elements, and
  • CfMC javascript functions.

Increase your Web programming efficiency with these CfMC syntax files for these (password required, please contact support):
